Our daughter was instantly besotted but tried to be sensible as we had told her to not fall in love instantly in case we couldn't pick up a puppy the same day or they weren't the right fit for us
As it happened she was so tiny it honestly scared me
There were two sisters there to view and cuddle and pick between.
Our daughter made her choice and was so shocked when I said we were taking her home with us there and then
Just what I had hoped for
Puppy was healthy, full of energy and slept all the way home in my daughter's arms.
She was so wobbly on her legs at first, but soon put weight on ajd became less wobbly and more bouncy.
Puppy frenzied are real!
So are the teeth!
A month or so later, it feels like a long month. In the best way.
She has had her vaccinations, been out to a light trail, met our small dogs and been playing with the younger of the two, been to coffee shops and is still waiting to visit our local park for her first walk.
As discussed before even looking for a puppy, our daughter has been doing all the feeding, cleaning, training and crate training.
We, as her parents, step in to help when she needs a rest through exhaustion, needs a spare pair of hands or just for cuddles sometimes.
Every time she goes to pony ride, I sit on a blanket on the floor jext to my bed, create an enclosed safe area and puppy sit.
This is where I find myself right now.
I am sat cross legged on my folded up, soft, puffy blanket on my floor, in my soft winter pyjamas ajd a hoodie, leaning on my bed for support whilst listening to a guided relaxation session and puppy is fast asleep in her crate in front of me.
I probably have two hours to go today, then the same tomorrow. She will sleep for a little while longer now and then be awake, full of puppy beans and raring to go, run around and explore her world with her teeth.
By the time my daughter returns home, I will be in dire need of a lie down myself, in my comfortable bed with my fluffy, soft blanket for cover, just in time for my chronic colouring session this evening, followed by family viewing of Traitors and Big Brother.
Can't wait for I'm A Celebrity... to start and the run up to Christmas to feel real.
Nearly all my Christmas shopping is done- being unwell with an ME crash this year has meant I cannot go out shopping so have had to be more organised doing it all online.
In a couple of weeks I have a date for surgery, so my recovery will take me almost to Christmas anyway.
In the meantime I will continue to watch autumnal videos of the outdoors, venture our with support when I feel able to, and try to stay as healthy as I can. Starting with my flu jab tomorrow afternoon.
